Tanuki is my friend’s cat* who lives in Prague (along with my human friend). He (the cat) was the muse for a class project: “Design a chocolate bar brand. Use four colors, with four flavors, no additional shades or tints.”
I miss my friend and Tanuki, so I continue building this charasmatic kitty’s brand from afar.

Area above and below logo is equal to the height of Tanuki “T.” Area left and right of the logo equal to the width of Tanuki “T.” Not applicable to package design.

Brand Elements

Tanuki’s slow blink is his version of a smooch.

Bespoke Typeface Logo

I created original typeface, Tanuki Sans, with Robofont. Tanuki’s short legs and tubby tail inspired the rounded edges and heavy weight.

Typeface: DINosaur

The soft curves of DINosaur Black and Bold complement the bubble letter-like Tanuki logotype.

Out of Home Advertising

If (when?!) Tanuki® hits stores, it will need to cut through the noise of competitors.* He’ll snag customers with a playful animation at the checkout where boredom is high and snack defense is low.

(*Tanuki is not actually registered trademark or service!)
The colors of the still vs the video may vary slightly from screen to screen as PNGs and accepted video formats for Cargo Sites do not have matching color formats

Social Media

Tanuki’s social presence is in its nascent stages. He’ll definitely try his hand at additional flavor animations, TikTok and some BTS footage.

(Tanuki doesn’t really have a verified Instagram nor can he work TikTok without opposable thumbs. I’m just doing these as creative branding exercises.)
